I have a confession to make - I was terrible about keeping in touch with friends. It's not that I don't think fondly about my past, the things that I did, the people with whom I did them... it's just that I've "lost touch" with people over time and I have never found the time to find them. This was most apparent at my last High School reunion (I graduated in 1978... before email, before the personal computer, before cell phones, before just about everything we rely on today to stay in touch), when I re-kindled several old friendships and learned, much to my surprise, that people were actually trying to find me as well! If you are reading this you are probably still in school and think that you will never lose touch with your friends... but you will... just ask your parents how easily it happens. I developed ClassmateLinks for a couple of reasons: 1) so your friendships won't have to be put on hold, like mine did and 2) so you will have a secure place to come and share with your friends and classmates. Using the simple concept that you have the most accurate information on yourself, and that you are responsible for updating that information on a regular basis, ClassmateLinks.com serves as a central location for that information. So now if you want to find someone, you know where to look... even if you haven't seen or heard from them in years. Unlike other "personal sites," ClassmateLinks.com is not a typical online community... unlike those other sites you won't find any advertising on ClassmateLinks, and we won't use your personal information to send you SPAM. Through our unique Personal Profile page design, you have the ability to link to just about any web site you choose (and if one or more of those links take people to an "online community," that's fine with us). You also have the ability to post general messages, participate in our Forums (both public and private), feature audio and video clips, upload photos, create Groups (where you can restrict access to other members and discuss and/or feature anything you like), and interact in just about any way imaginable. With all of the communication options available through ClassmateLinks, your immediate classmates will be able to "hear" what you have to say, and you'll have access to what they want to share. Another thing that makes ClassmateLinks different is that we don't want everyone to know about us... we don't want a whole bunch of exposure. This site is designed for you, the user, to communicate with your friends and classmates, to find people you are looking for, and to stay visible for people who might be looking for you. You will never see any advertisements on ClassmateLinks.com and you won't see splashy commercials or banner ads about us littering your computer screen. With that said, we cannot (and will not) control the sites that you link to from your individual Profile Page, and if you end up somewhere outside of ClassmateLinks.com, you are on your own! All in all, I hope that you enjoy your ClassmateLinks experience and membership.
