What and how we do what we do can be found within our Privacy Policy. We discuss how we collect your information, how we use it, who controls the content of your Personal Profile Page, restrictions on the age of participants in ClassmateLinks, and a whole bunch of other stuff. You should read it. it is quite interesting!
This section will give you a better idea of why we do what we do. We have certain beliefs that we have tried to build in to ClassmateLinks. Things like giving you the right to say what you want to say in an environment that is conducive to saying it. If, for example, you feel strongly enough to voice your opinion in a public forum, we say "go for it!" But do so knowing that everyone else in the forum will know who you are when you voice it. there's no anonymity here. speak your heart, but be willing to accept everything that comes with it.
The same thing goes with the publishing of photos and video. You can upload anything that you want, but remember that everything is identified by the member who provides the content. So if you want to upload nude photos of your pet parakeet, make sure you submit your best work because everyone will know that you were the photographer.
We also believe that you have the right to feel offended, but please keep in mind that we are not the ethics police, and therefore cannot control the content that members provide. If we receive complaints about any of our members being abusive and/or a habitual offender, we will review the situation. We reserve the right to terminate the membership of anyone who we deem to have violated the spirit of the ClassmateLinks community. In such a situation, our decision is final, binding, and may not be appealed, and no refund of any membership fee will be made.
This is simply our contact information and hours of operation.
Think of this informative page as a common area for you to gather. From the Class Page you can find out who is currently online, upload photos for the entire class to see, access the Portrait Page, access the Class Forums, and read the Latest Class News.
People remember faces better than names and the Portrait Page is a great place to reconnect the two.
Everything you do on ClassmateLinks (post, upload, chat, etc.) will carry your identity, and much of the time your Senior Photo will be displayed; it is your Avatar. The Portrait Page is a place where everyone's school photo is displayed. They are in alphabetical order (just like a yearbook), so it is easy to locate anyone you are looking to find. As you mouse-over the photos, they will enlarge so they are easier to see. Once you find the person you are looking for, simply click on their photo and you will be taken to their Personal Profile Page and have access to all of their contact information.
This is where you get to update everyone on you and your life. It is the first page you will see when you Log In to ClassmateLinks, and you should always take a moment to ensure that all of the contact information displayed is as current as possible.
Your name, school, class and some other basic information will be displayed in the left column. Your school Photo is the only part of this page that you cannot change (although if you want to update the photo displayed you can have us do so for you). Your identity and User Name will remain constant throughout your membership in ClassmateLinks. Everything else, however, can be modified... even your name!
My Latest News is just that: let everyone know what is new in your life. This acts like a journal or blog. Whatever you post stays there until you remove it, and if you keep adding content to the top of the My Latest News section, it will all be there for people to see and act as your personal blog.
The My Photos section allows you to upload photos you want to share with other members. Anyone who is a member of ClassmateLinks will be able to see these photos.
The My Groups section displays groups that you have started and to which you belong.
My Links is a series of links to outside web sites. You can link to as many sites as you want.
Feel free to change your information, links and photos as often as you like.
Want to discuss something? Want to let a lot of people know about an upcoming event? The Forums are probably the best spot to do it.
In the Forums you can start a new topic or jump in to an ongoing discussion. Nothing is off limits, as long as you are willing to be identified along with your posts!
Another feature that sets ClassmateLinks apart, the Group Pages are communities within your community where people with common interests can gather.
Anyone can start a Group. If you have a passion for something and you want to share it, start a Group. You can then allow all other members to participate, or allow participation by invitation/approval only. Each Group has its own Group Photos section as well as private Group Forums.
